Trik Sederhana Mencari Ilmu di Internet

Bagi yang sering surfing di Internet akan terasa sekali bahwa tidak mudah untuk mencari ilmu di Internet. Seringkali pada saat kita surfing justru tenggelam dalam lautan informasi; terlalu enak membaca-baca tanpa tujuan yang jelas; melihat-lihat berbagai etalase informasi di berbagai situs tanpa tujuan yang jelas hanya untuk memuaskan mata & pikiran; memang pada akhirnya kita akan memperoleh banyak informasi tapi belum tentu memperoleh sesuatu yang betul-betul bermanfaat atau biasanya maksimum kita akan memperoleh berita-berita / informasi terakhir sebagai pengganti koran.

Bagi anda yang mempunyai waktu yang sempit saya yakin tidak mungkin menggunakan pola-pola di atas untuk melakukan surfing di Internet. Kita perlu menggunakan metoda / pola yang baik supaya bisa memperoleh informasi yang sangat spesifik dengan baik dalam waktu yang singkat. Satu hal yang perlu di pegang erat-erat pada saat kita surfing adalah menentukan dengan sangat jelas niat / tujuan utama pada saat surfing tersebut – apa yang akan kita cari? Pada kesempatan ini saya akan memberikan sedikit tip & trik jika kebetulan niat anda adalah mencari ilmu di Internet.

Untuk menghemat waktu & pulsa biasanya saya surfing pada pukul 4-6 pagi (subuh); pada saat itu tidak banyak orang yang menggunakan Internet sehingga pengambilan informasi dari Internet dapat dilakukan dengan cepat & effisien. Teknik-teknik untuk melakukan sinkronisasi menggunakan browser yang kita gunakan (seperti Internet Explorer) ada baiknya di kuasai supaya tidak menghabiskan waktu / pulsa untuk membaca informasi tersebut akan tetapi cukup mendownload semua informasi tersebut ke PC yang kita gunakan & membaca-nya kemudian secara off-line pada saat telepon kita putuskan. Teknik sinkronisasi pernah saya tuliskan dalam artikel sebelumnya; dan sangat penting untuk menghemat waktu dalam mendownload berbagai informasi setelah situs-nya di temukan.

Untuk mencapai situs / informasi yang tepat trik yang harus digunakan sebetulnya tidak terlalu rumit. Cara yang paling effektif / sederhana adalah:

” Menggunakan search engine di Internet.

” Menggunakan keyword yang benar.

Jika kedua hal tersebut anda lakukan dengan baik & benar maka akan diperoleh ilmu & pengetahuan yang baik.

Ada banyak sekali search engine di Internet. Search engine hanyalah memuat daftar alamat situs (berbentuk Universal Resource Locator – URL) & subjek yang di bawa situs tersebut saja. Search engine umumnya tidak membawa informasi itu sendiri. Beberapa search engine favourite saya adalah:

dan untuk mencari hal-hal yang berkaitan untuk pendidikan anak-anak saya biasanya menggunakan:

Tampak pada gambar adalah tampilan yahooligans.com. Saya sangat menyarankan bagi anda yang mempunyai putra-putri untuk menggunakan situs ini untuk mencari hal-hal yang bermanfaat untuk menunjang pendidikan anak.

Yahoo.com & infoseek.com mempunyai karakteristik yang berbeda; biasanya jika kita mencari hal-hal yang cukup solid atau mencari dalam kerangka institusi, negara dll saya biasanya menggunakan yahoo.com. Untuk hal-hal yang betul-betul baru atau belum terstruktur dengan baik maka saya menggunakan infoseek.com.

Selanjutnya adalah penggunakan keyword yang tepat. Keyword tersebut di ketikan ke dalam kolom yang kosong di search engine. Tampak pada contoh situs yahooligans.com kolom untuk memasukan keyword terletak di sebelah tombol “search”.

FAQ adalah Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). Sesuai namanya FAQ akan memuat berbagai jawaban dari pertanyaan yang sering ditanyakan dalam sebuah bidang. Saya biasanya menggunakan FAQ sebagai awal dalam mencari berbagai informasi / pengetahuan yang saya butuhkan.

Whitepaper adalah istilah bagi berbagai ilmu / informasi yang memang di sebarkan secara gratis / cuma-cuma di Internet. Kita cukup menambahkan beberapa keyword tambahan yang menjelaskan tentang ilmu / informasi yang spesifik yang kita cari, contoh:

Dengan menggunakan rangkaian keyword tersebut hampir di jamin anda akan memperoleh informasi / pengetahuan yang anda cari. Tentunya karena kita menggunakan internet maka informasi / pengetahuan yang terbanyak umumnya mengunakan bahasa inggris – konsekuensi-nya keyword yang digunakan sebaiknya dalam bahasa inggris agar kemungkinan memperoleh ilmu yang di cari dapat maksimal.

‘Internet Bisa Hentikan Keberingasan Hitler’

Stockholm – Dunia pernah menderita dengan perang dunia II ketika diktator Adolf Hitler memimpin Jerman dan ingin menguasai Eropa di era 1940-an. Jika saja saat itu teknologi internet sudah ditemukan, keberingasan Hitler mungkin bisa dihentikan.

Itulah opini yang dikatakan oleh pemenang Nobel sastra 2008, Jean Marie Gustave Le Clezio. Menurut sastrawan asal Perancis ini, penyebaran informasi via internet bisa mencegah terjadinya konflik dan juga menaklukkan Hitler.

“Siapa tahu, jika internet eksis pada saat itu, kemungkinan plot kriminal yang dicanangkan Hitler tidak akan sukses,” katanya yang dilansir WebUser dan dikutip detikINET, Rabu (10/12/2008).

Menurut Clezio, rencana jahat Hitler bisa saja hanya menjadi bahan ejekan di internet dan tidak akan pernah terlaksana.

Meski demikian, pendapat Clezio ini tentu tak disetujui semua pihak.Dalam situasi zaman sekarang, para diktator justru bisa menyensor internet untuk melanggengkan kekuasaannya, misalnya seperti yang terjadi di Korea Utara.

Clezio sendiri menerima penghargaan Nobel dalam sebuah upacara resmi di Stochkolm, Swedia. Para juri memuji karya sastranya yang sarat akan nilai-nilai kemanusiaan.

Google Europe Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship 2009

Google has published information from Google Europe Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship 2009, which aims to promote women to results in the field ofcomputers and technology as well as active role models and leaders. Scholarships are open to students that his last year bachelor’s degree or enrolled in master’s or doctoral degree (or equivalent) in 2009/2010.

Multiple scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of candidates’ academic background and demonstrated leadership. A group of female Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD student finalists will be chosen from the applicant pool. The scholarship recipients, selected from the finalists, will each receive a €5,000 (or equivalent) scholarship for the 2009/2010 academic year.

In June 2009, all finalists will be invited to visit Google’s European Engineering Centre in Zurich for a networking retreat. It will include workshops with a series of speakers, panels, breakout sessions and social activities, and will provide an opportunity for all finalists to meet and share their experiences.

Eligibility requirements
Candidates must:

  • be a female student entering her final year of a Bachelor’s degree, or enrolled in an a Master’s or PhD programme (or equivalent), in 2009/2010.
  • be enrolled at a University in Europe. Citizens, permanent residents, and international students are eligible to apply.
  • be studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics, or a closely related technical field.
  • maintain an excellent academic record (e.g. a First Class Honours degree).

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

UTS: Engineering offers scholarships to international students for its masters by coursework programs. Each scholarship will be awarded based solely on academic results achieved by the applicant in their undergraduate degree.

The next intake will be for Autumn Semester 2009. Applications close 8 December 2008.

General information:

CBS offers high scholarships and accepts only top applicants. To be awarded the scholarship, one must be enrolled as a PhD student. To be considered for enrolment, the candidate should have a basic training at the Masters level, and must be fluent in Danish and/or English.

Enrolment in the PhD programme furthermore depends on the acceptance of the application, which must include a short project description, usually prepared in co-operation with the Department. This research proposal should contain a presentation of the intended research question, including the theory and methodology expected to be used.Indicative examples of research themes could be:

  • The determinants and effects of board composition
  • Private equity ownership: causes and consequences
  • Causes of the current financial crises: leverage, board failure and compensation bias
  • Managing innovation in Multinational Companies,
  • Outward FDI from emerging markets
  • The role of emerging markets in the global financial crisis

In addition to the research proposal, the application must include a completed compulsory form, copies of a Master`s degree certificate or other certificates of a corresponding level, brief curriculum vitae (CV), a list of papers and publications, and one copy of a selected written work (e.g. Master`s thesis).

All parts of the application must be submitted in four copies, except the selected written work, which may be submitted in only one copy. Electronic submissions are not accepted.

A PhD scholarship runs for a period of 3 years, and includes teaching obligations equivalent of 840 work hours. The scholarship includes the waiving of tuition, office space, travel grants plus a salary, currently starting with per month app. DKK 24.118 up to DKK 29.125 depending on seniority plus a pension contributions totalling 17,1 % on 80 per cent of the base salary.

The salary level and appointment is determined by the Ministry of Finance`s collective agreement with the Central Academic Organisation.A committee of experts in the field in question will assess the applications. The assessment of the applicants will be based on the quality and relevance of the project, including an evaluation of the applicant`s ability to accomplish it. Following this assessment, the management of the department will select the winner of the scholarship.
